Hey hey, SLO County party people! ☀️ June has officially arrived, and it’s packed with back-to-back events that’ll take your summer from 0 to legendary. Whether you're sipping on local wine, grooving to iconic tunes, or soaking in coastal vibes, we’ve got the scoop—and your ride—to make every adventure safe and seamless.

So, grab your calendar and let’s dive into the top ten June journeys in SLO. Don’t forget to book your SLO Safe Ride early—we fill up faster than a Tin City tasting room on a Saturday.

1. June 1st: 20th Annual Pinot and Paella Festival | 2–5PM | Templeton Park

We’re kicking off June with flavor, flair, and a whole lot of fun at one of the Central Coast’s most beloved culinary celebrations. The 20th Annual Pinot and Paella Festival is more than just a food and wine event—it’s a full-sensory experience set under the oaks in charming Templeton Community Park.

Who’s behind it?

This tasty tradition is hosted by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, and it brings together 20+ premier local Pinot Noir producers—from small boutique labels to big names in the Paso scene. They’re pouring their best bottles alongside a lineup of acclaimed local chefs competing to create the ultimate take on paella. Expect everything from traditional seafood styles to bold fusion twists, each paired perfectly with a local pinot.

What’s the vibe?

Think upscale picnic meets Spanish fiesta. Guests wander from table to table with a wine glass in one hand and a paella fork in the other, all while live flamenco music sets the mood. Local favorites often grace the stage, so bring a blanket or lawn chair, stake your space, and let the rhythm and flavors carry you through the afternoon.

Whether you’re a seafood fan or veggie lover, there’s a paella pan calling your name. Grab a lawn chair, wear your stretchy pants, and arrive safe with us—because we both know pinot tastings add up fast.

Where’s it all happening?

The festival takes place in Templeton Community Park, a lush and shady gem just off Main Street that transforms into a vibrant gathering spot for foodies, wine lovers, and locals in the know. It’s a family-friendly setting with plenty of room to roam—but trust us, you’ll want to be near the action where the aroma of saffron, grilled meats, and bubbling paella pans fills the air.

Why you should go (and ride with us):

Besides being a guaranteed good time, this event benefits local nonprofits and community causes. And with unlimited wine tastings included in your ticket, having a designated driver is a muy buena idea. Let SLO Safe Ride be your passport to paella paradise—no parking stress, no navigation woes, just you and a full plate of Central Coast flavor.

Tickets sell out early every year, so if you haven’t snagged yours yet—do it now! Then lock in your ride with us for a perfect start to your June event calendar.

2. June 5th: Matt Stone is “Elvis In Person” | 8PM | Lobero Theatre, Santa Barbara, CA

Get ready to shake, rattle, and roll your way into a night of pure rock ‘n’ roll nostalgia. On June 5th, the historic Lobero Theatre in downtown Santa Barbara transforms into a time machine straight to the golden age of Elvis Presley—and the man behind the magic is none other than Matt Stone.

Who is Matt Stone?

At just 22 years old, Matt Stone has already become a standout in the world of Elvis tribute artists, praised by Presley’s inner circle as one of the most authentic and electrifying performers in the business. His show, Elvis In Person, focuses on the King’s legendary Vegas years, bringing that rhinestone-studded swagger, powerhouse vocals, and charismatic charm to the stage with jaw-dropping accuracy.

This isn’t your average tribute—it’s a high-energy concert experience that channels Elvis at his peak. Think: jumpsuits, spotlights, swoon-worthy ballads, and hip-shaking anthems that’ll have you dancing in your seat (or the aisles—we don’t judge).

Matt Stone isn’t just impersonating the King—he becomes Elvis. If you’ve never seen a true tribute with Vegas-era sparkle and that iconic voice, this is your chance. Make a whole evening of it in Santa Barbara, and let us be your velvet-lined Cadillac back to SLO. Uh huh huh. 🕺

Where's it happening?

The show takes place at Lobero Theatre, a Santa Barbara icon that’s as intimate as it is elegant. Tucked into the heart of downtown, it’s the perfect spot for a pre-show dinner, a stroll through palm-lined streets, and a memorable night out with friends or your favorite Elvis fanatic.

Why make the trip (and ride with us)?

Whether you're a lifelong fan or just want a unique night out, this show promises all the glitz and glory of vintage Vegas without the airfare. And hey—if Elvis taught us anything, it’s that style matters. So let SLO Safe Ride be your velvet-lined Cadillac for the evening. No stress, no parking woes—just you, your crew, and a front-row seat to the King’s revival.

Long live the King—reserve your ride and let’s rock 'n' roll!

5. June 14th: “ETERNAL STOKE”: The Chris Brown Legacy 7PM | Lobero Theatre, Santa Barbara

For one unforgettable night, the Santa Barbara surf community—and anyone who’s ever been moved by the ocean—is coming together to celebrate the life and legacy of a local legend. “ETERNAL STOKE: The Chris Brown Legacy” is more than a tribute—it’s a powerful, emotional ride through the story of a surfer who left a deep and lasting mark on the wave-riding world and beyond.

Who was Chris Brown?

Chris Brown wasn’t just a pro surfer. He was a Santa Barbara native, a fierce competitor, a soulful waterman, and a mentor who gave back to his community with the same passion he brought to every wave. Bursting onto the surf scene in the late 1980s, Chris captured national attention for his fearless style and technical prowess, eventually securing wins on both the World Qualifying Series and the Bud Pro Tour.

But his impact wasn’t measured in trophies alone. Chris was known for being generous with his time, especially with up-and-coming local surfers, and his love for the ocean was contagious. He was a true embodiment of the surfing spirit—equal parts power and grace, humility and heart.

Smiling man in wetsuit and surfer riding a wave. "Eternal Stoke" movie premiere at Lobero Theatre on June 14, featuring Burleigh Skidmore.

What is “Eternal Stoke”?

This special screening is a feature-length documentary and multimedia tribute that captures the essence of Chris’s journey—from childhood surf sessions at Leadbetter Beach to professional competitions across the globe. It dives into the highs, the lows, and the stoke that never quit, even in the face of personal challenges.

Expect:

  • Candid interviews with family, friends, and fellow surf legends

  • Archival surf footage capturing Chris’s most iconic rides

  • Live storytelling and reflections on the ripple effects of his influence

  • A soulful soundtrack that matches the energy and emotion of the waves

Whether you’re a lifelong surfer or just someone drawn to stories of grit, grace, and passion, Eternal Stoke promises to move and inspire.

Where is it happening?

The film will be screened at the iconic Lobero Theatre in downtown Santa Barbara—just blocks from the Pacific and surrounded by the very waters where Chris carved his legend. As California’s oldest continuously operating theater, the Lobero provides an intimate, historic space to reflect, remember, and honor one of Santa Barbara’s own.

Why it matters (and why ride with us):

Events like this don’t come around often. It’s not just a movie—it’s a community gathering, a shared memory, and a deep breath of salty air. Come celebrate a life that was lived with purpose, and leave with a fresh dose of inspiration to live yours the same way.

And after an emotional evening? Let SLO Safe Ride be your crew on land—we’ll make sure you get there and back with time to reminisce, reflect, and maybe talk story with a fellow fan of the sea.

Tickets are expected to sell out, so grab yours early—and reserve your ride to make it a smooth journey from SLO to the show.

Because legends deserve to be remembered. And stories like Chris’s deserve to be shared.
